The cartridge contains granules inside that slowly dissove into the water over a 4 month period making it very long lasting.

Before adding it into your Softub set the dial on the top of the frog so that it reads 4 months from the month you first place it in the water. This is a way to remind you in the future when it is due to be changed. A coin will easily turn the dial to the desired setting.

Check it at a later date and change it after it has been used 4 months. Sometimes you can find discounts on the filter frog, if you find a 3 pack special that would be full years worth you could stock up on and not have to worry about it for quite some time.

Add your chlorine or bromine for hot tub users based on the manufactures instructions, but you can slightly scale back how much you are using because of the benefits you will receive from the minerals being released from the cartridge.

You should find that you will go through a much lower amount while the frog is dispensing its mineral treatment into the water.
